Celebrating 32 years of excellence in design, Design for Functional Interiors (DFI) was founded in 1980 by Anne B. Williams in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Current client base is found in Pennsylvania, Delaware, Florida, Maryland, and Virginia. The success of DFI is exemplified through our extensive client list, and most, with whom we have established a long term relationship through repeatedly successful projects.
DFI is a professional, architecturally oriented, contract interior design firm employing highly qualified staff. We specialize in design for commercial, corporate, hospitality, educational and healthcare facilities. Our projects focus on use by the public whether general or a specific segment and must display an individual identity through function and aesthetics. These projects vary from adaptive reuse to new construction and involve an intricate weave of personality, images, budget limitations and time constraints.
On a regular basis, DFI manages all phases of design projects. This includes client negotiation, interior architectural planning and detailing, selection, specification and bidding of furnishings and finishes, design of lighting, graphics and signage, production of contract documents, and supervision of construction and installation. DFI excels with the ability to define the client’s needs, wishes and image through successful space utilization and development as well as the appropriate use of color, texture and light to compliment the entire volume of spaces designed. To further enhance the environment, DFI creates individuality in their projects by designing custom millwork, furnishings and accessories.
Our industry achievements are rooted in the quality of our overall design and in the thoroughness of our contract documents. We believe our superior documentation is a result of our comprehension of architectural details and functions as well as decorative approach finishes. Our precision and attention to detail in this phase of the design process insures that the contractors and vendors produce the desired product with minimal problems during construction.
